Living with a neurological condition

If you are living with a neurological condition, everyday movement can feel harder, less predictable, or simply more tiring than it used to be. We help with the physical side of that: supporting movement, balance, strength and comfort, and working alongside your GP and specialist team, never in place of them. Whatever your age or ability, you are welcome here.

Understanding it

Helping with the movement side of things

A neurological condition affects how the brain and nerves send and receive signals, and that can show up in the body in many different ways: stiffness or weakness, altered sensation, tremor, tiredness, or trouble with balance and coordination. No two people experience it in quite the same way. What we focus on is how it affects your movement and your daily life, and how we can help make that side of things a little easier and more manageable.

People come to us while living with a wide range of neurological conditions, including the after-effects of a stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, nerve conditions and peripheral neuropathy, among many others. We do not treat the condition itself; that stays with your medical team. What we can support is its effect on the body: tight or overworked muscles, weakness, joint stiffness, changes in posture, and the balance and coordination that everyday movement relies on. Everything starts with an unhurried assessment, and care is shaped gently around you, at a pace that suits you, in step with the rest of your care.

What to expect

From first call to feeling better

What is likely going on

A neurological condition changes how signals travel between the brain, nerves and muscles. Over time that can leave some muscles tight and overworked, others weak or underused, and balance and coordination harder to rely on. These knock-on effects on the body are often the part we can help with.

How we assess it

Your first visit is a calm, unhurried conversation and a gentle look at how you move, what feels difficult, and what you would like to be easier. We take in the whole picture, and we are glad to work in step with your GP or specialist.

What getting better looks like

Here, progress means the everyday things feeling a little steadier: moving with more comfort and confidence, holding on to the mobility you have, and being supported at a pace that always suits you. We stay honest about what is realistic, and we adapt as we go.

What it means for you

You are not on your own with this

Living with a neurological condition can feel isolating, and the physical side of it is easy to push to the bottom of the list. You do not have to. Alongside your medical team, we are here to help you keep moving, stay as comfortable as possible, and feel supported at every stage.

Other reasons people come to us

A neurological condition is one of the reasons people come to us; if what you are dealing with looks a little different, one of these may fit better.
