Pain that has lasted months or years is exhausting, and it is easy to lose hope that anything can change. It can. We help people of every age and activity level understand their pain, settle it down, and get back to the life it has been squeezing out.
Persistent pain is different from a fresh injury. The original strain or damage has usually long since healed, but the body's protective systems have stayed on high alert, so ordinary movement, touch or even a poor night's sleep can keep the pain going. That does not mean the pain is imagined, and it does not mean nothing can be done: it means the problem needs a different kind of help, and a system that has become oversensitive can be calmed.
We help people with long-standing pain in the back, neck, shoulders, hips, knees and feet, nerve-related pain, pain that moves or has spread, and widespread aching that never quite settles. It may trace back to an old injury or operation, an accident or a fall, arthritis or another underlying condition, years of heavy work, or it may have crept in gradually with no clear cause at all; stress, poor sleep and worry often turn the volume up further. We look at the muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, joints and nerves involved, and just as importantly at you: how you move, how you are sleeping and coping, and what the pain is stopping you from doing. Care is then shaped around that whole picture, gently and at your pace.
Long-standing pain usually means the body's alarm system has become oversensitive, not that damage is getting worse. Understanding that is often the turning point.
Your first visit is an unhurried conversation and a careful look at how you move and how the pain behaves, taking seriously everything you have already been through and tried.
Progress with persistent pain is usually steady rather than sudden: flare-ups handled better, more good days, and confidence returning. A clear plan, reviewed and adjusted with you.
Sleeping through the night, walking further, enjoying a day out without planning it around pain. Whatever persistent pain has taken from you, our aim is to help you take it back, one steady step at a time.
Everything is done with care and at a pace that suits you, and nothing is rushed or forced. The aim throughout is simple: that you feel in good hands, understood, and steadily better.
Chronic & persistent pain is one of the common problems we see; if yours looks a little different, one of these may fit better.
